In the very heart of Cirencester stands The Kings Head, listed as a building of special architectural and historical interest and Winner of Editor’s Choice Boutique Hotel at the Good Hotel Guide Awards 2017.
The cellars stretch out under Cirencester and house a beautiful Spa and many unusual and interesting rooms which you will need to explore.
And, as we found out when we went to Barnsley House, Cirencester, home of the Gloucestershire set, has great shopping: House of Fraser and lots of small individual boutiques. And no M&S or Next!
And they have great markets: in the town square, and in the Pump Rooms adjoining the Hotel. Friday is Charter Market Day and is one of the oldest in the country having been in existence since 1086.
Coffee and biscuits on arrival and then two or three hours to explore and shop and returning to the hotel for a latish lunch with, as ever, wine. Coach £55
